In 1878 Tokyo, he protects dojo owner Kamiya Kaoru (Emi Takei) from fake Battosai Jin-e (Koji Kikkawa), uncovering ruthless opium dealer Kanryu Takeda (Teruyuki Kagawa)'s plot with reluctant pharmacist Megumi Takani (Yu Aoi) and ex-samurai thugs.
Keishi Otomo directs this 134-minute live-action adaptation of Nobuhiro Watsuki's manga, launching a blockbuster trilogy with Munetaka Aoki, Yosuke Eguchi, and Taketo Tanaka as Yahiko.
